Guardian

Why we exist

← Back

Guardian fights for veterans rated 100% disabled with the same urgency they once fought for us — helping them move from hunger, debt, homelessness, and isolation toward housing, food, financial stability, healthcare, therapy, community, dignity, and upward mobility.

Why we started

Guardian began with one friend. Our founder spent five years watching a veteran he grew up with cycle through homelessness, empty bank accounts, empty cupboards, a car that died, hospital stays, and a benefits system that was supposed to catch him and didn’t. Not because no one cared — because the help was scattered across a dozen agencies, forms, and phone trees, and because being in crisis is the worst possible condition for navigating bureaucracy.

That is the gap Guardian was built for: a patient guide that sits with you, in plain language, and turns an overwhelming situation into one next step you can actually take today.

What Guardian does

Guardian is a conversation. Type or talk — whatever is easier. It will help you build a simple monthly budget, work out which bills to pay first, deal with collectors, avoid predatory lenders and advance-on-your-benefits schemes, and find the programs you may be eligible for: VA healthcare and mental health care, HUD-VASH and SSVF for housing, food assistance, and your local County Veteran Service Office.

For anything involving a benefits claim, Guardian points you to a VA-accredited Veterans Service Organization, which helps you free of charge. That is the right way to do it, and it costs you nothing.

What Guardian is not

Where we are today

Guardian is new. We are at the beginning, not the end — there is no long track record to point to yet, and we would rather tell you that plainly than dress it up. What we can promise is how we operate: we never ask for your passwords, we never take a cut of your benefits, and we will always tell you when something is better handled by a free accredited VSO than by us.

If you are in crisis right now: call 988 and press 1, or text 838255. You can also call 911. Please reach out — you are worth the call.
